RMHC has Holiday Spirit

Ameer Tyree Giving Tuesday took place on Tuesday, November 28, and the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia did not hesitate to give all they could to good causes this holiday season. Giving Tuesday is part of an effort many organizations make to give charitable donations to get the season of giving started. The Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia shelled out over $13,000 this year. This Ronald McDonald house makes efforts to reach out to families in need in Virginia that are located more than 25 miles from their location to allow them to stay with them in their time of need. They strive to serve as many families in their community as they can. They celebrated the National Day of Giving by calling up donors from the past to see if they would like to make donations to support those in need during the holidays. Robert Brailsford, a member of the RMHC Board of Trustees, says that they received over $500 in donations within the first 10 minutes of their phone calls. Altho...

RMHC Partners with Rainbow Kidz

Ameer Tyree Rainbow Kidz is a pediatric grief program based out of Iredell County in North Carolina. The program helps children deal with the loss of people close to them. On Wednesday, November 29, Ronald McDonald House Charities donated $5,000 to the program. After the donation by RMHC, there was a presentation at N.B. Mills elementary school in which the five of the six children in the program at the school gathered together to accept the donation check. Donations to the program have helped provide counseling to 205 children in 25 different schools since September. Leigh Ann Darty, the director of the program, has strived to continue to grow the program in order to affect the lives of as many children as possible. The loss of a parent or sibling can drastically affect the personality, behavior and academic performance of a child. 55 percent of the children in the program have lost a parent or sibling. Lights of Love at The Ronald McDonald House November 29, 2017 Madeleine Gabbard Thinking back to the original vision that began 27 years ago, Lights of Love will be held once again at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas. Lights of Love is a festive event for children and families. At this event they are able to experience holiday fun together with their friends and families. It’s a magical moment when thousands of sparkling lights suddenly illuminate the Ronald McDonald House and its big, bright holiday tree. This is a good time for families to get to relax together, and spend the holiday’s enjoying the lights and decorations with their entire families. The children love this special event, and it has been a tradition for twenty-seven years. Ronald McDonald will be there, as well as carolers.
