RMHC has Holiday Spirit

Ameer Tyree

Giving Tuesday took place on Tuesday, November 28, and the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia did not hesitate to give all they could to good causes this holiday season. Giving Tuesday is part of an effort many organizations make to give charitable donations to get the season of giving started. The Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia shelled out over $13,000 this year. This Ronald McDonald house makes efforts to reach out to families in need in Virginia that are located more than 25 miles from their location to allow them to stay with them in their time of need. They strive to serve as many families in their community as they can. They celebrated the National Day of Giving by calling up donors from the past to see if they would like to make donations to support those in need during the holidays. Robert Brailsford, a member of the RMHC Board of Trustees, says that they received over $500 in donations within the first 10 minutes of their phone calls. Although they are off to a strong start, RMHC does not plan on slowing down anytime soon. We aim to serve as many as we can in order to make everyone have a happy holiday season.
